RAK Airport is getting set to announce a change in leadership with a new CEO.

Former chief commercial officer of Mumbai International Airport, Sanjay Khanna, assumed the role at the end of last month, sources have told Aviation Business, replacing former CEO Mohammed Qazi.

RAK Airport has been posting impressive growth in traffic, both in terms of passengers as well as flights, after the cessation of operations by RAK Airways in 2013 left it with barely a listing on its arrivals calendar.

In its 40th year of operations, the airport posted a 52 percent rise in passenger traffic in 2016, largely due to Air Arabia flying to 10 locations from RAK. However, the airport is also facing pressure owing to the ongoing Qatari-Gulf dispute.
