Thyssenkrupp Elevator is reportedly developing the world's first rope-free elevator system.

The new system, named Multi, will increase transport capacities by 50%, says Markus Jetter, head of product development at Thyssenkrupp Elevator.

“Multi will offer higher capacities and faster journey times compared to traditional high-speed elevators, which are limited by the effects of pressure on the human body - with many people experiencing discomfort while travelling in elevators at speeds higher than 10m/s (36kmph),” he said.

Multi will have a targeted speed of 5m/s.
