Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Authority (ADWEA) is looking at building the world’s largest water desalination plant.

ADEWA will issue a call of interest in the world's largest desalination plant that is responsible to produce 200 million gallons of water a day using reverse osmosis technology in Al Taweelah.

The announcement includes inviting all alliances and developers to show interest in the execution of this project according to the independent product model applied by the authority within the privatisation program in partnership with the private sector.

ADEWA aims to have a 60% stake in the project while the private sector developer will own 40%.

The project will include the development, financing, construction, operation, maintenance and ownership of the plant.

ADWEA and its group of companies are participating as a strategic partner and key sponsor of the 2018 World Water Summit and 2018 World Future Energy Summit, where it is expected to make this announcement along with others.
