A mobile winch crane collapsed within Saudi Arabia’s Makkah Grand Mosque.

Saudi’s General Presidency of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque said the incident occurred near Gate 160 of the Saudi Third Expansion Project at 2.30pm on Monday, 20 May.

The crane was “working in an isolated zone” in the Holy Grand Mosque, and “happened to slip due to overload”, Saudi’s state news agency said.

No fatalities are said to have occurred due to the incident, but the crane’s operator sustained “slight injuries”.

A crane collapse at the Grand Mosque left hundreds injured in September 2015.
