In support of Kuwait's long-term strategy to become a global hub for the oil, gas and petrochemicals industry, Honeywell is set to host the inaugural Honeywell Technology Summit in the country next month.
The event, held under the patronage of Kuwait National Petroleum Company, will take place during 3-4 October 2017 and bring together more than 300 participants, including senior industry executives from the energy sector.
Supported by major local industry players such as Kuwait Oil Company, Kuwait Integrated Petrochemical Industries Company, EQUATE Petrochemical Company and Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research, the event will highlight the importance of connected technologies and business solutions in achieving the goals set out in the Kuwait National Development Plan.
Honeywell is committed to leveraging its innovative technologies and global expertise to support Kuwait’s long-term growth and development ambitions. The Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) wave is expected to play an important role in maximising the value of the oil and gas industry for Kuwait in the future, as part of the 2030 Oil and Gas Strategy.
“Technology and human capital are the key driving forces behind Kuwait’s ambition to further develop the oil and gas industry as part of Kuwait Petroleum Corporation’s 2030 Strategy. It is also important in helping Kuwait become a global industrial leader by 2035 through innovation, skills development, and targeted strategic investments across the public and private sectors,” said George Bou Mitri, president, Honeywell, Kuwait, Iraq, Jordan and Lebanon.
“Working with a global partner such as Honeywell gives local industries and companies direct access to the latest technology products and solutions, as well as wide-ranging international expertise and sector-specific knowledge. The Honeywell Technology Summit presents an open platform for Kuwait’s industries and regulators to come together, exchange knowledge and ideas, and together build a steady roadmap for industry development in Kuwait,” added Mitri.
Earlier this year, Kuwait announced plans to shift its focus onto petrochemical production through global investments exceeding $8bn. The strategy aims to develop the industry to an extent that it accounts for 50% of the country's income generated from non-oil sectors.
With a legacy spanning more than 50 years, Honeywell has a long history of supporting Kuwait’s industries – including petrochemicals – through leading-edge technologies, efficient business solutions, local training, and research and development initiatives.
Honeywell has delivered more than 2,000 projects for more than 165 customers in Kuwait, and Honeywell is currently heavily involved in supporting the development of several of the country’s hospitals, airports, refineries, hotels and education facilities.
Honeywell offers the most complete set of secure, IIoT-ready solutions across all elements of the Industrial Internet. Along with the connected plant technologies, the technology summit will showcase the latest innovations for the oil and gas industries such as ControlEdge PLC, Experion 500, 3D training solutions, and integrated safety and security solutions.
The Honeywell technology summit will take place at the Hilton Kuwait Resort, Kuwait City.
